Fibre Sovereignty.

From seed to shirt in local dirt!

Led by collaborators and community driven, this grass-roots endeavour invites us to connect more deeply with the land, the fibre that we wear, each other, and our Selves through the re-animation of traditional skills.

2024 was our inaugural year with 600 square feet of flax grown, and the call continues to be open for like-minded individuals to join us both in the field and at processing events throughout the region. If you are interested in learning how to grow, process, spin, and weave flax seed into heirloom quality fabric (or just a few of the steps along the way) and long to co-create a community of potlucking, belly laughing, sweat and tears of the good kind, dirt worshipping friends; you're in the right place!

Join textile artists Amber Gould and Juliette Jarvis to bring head, heart, and hands together with remedial intention for our earth and our souls. Have a look through these web pages the send word to us through the contact form provided or follow us on instagram at @qathetflaxtolinen

The qathet Flax to Linen Community will also happily accept sponsors, funding, and donations to help launch and maintain this new, volunteer oriented, skill share and fibre shed.

Project Vision

To work in our local region to grow linen flax, and begin to transform our region into a thriving, sustainable fibre shed. Working with local small farmers and gardeners on donated land with the support of many hands to learn how to grow, harvest, process and turn flax into fibre.  Working together to revive old and wise ways of working with the land to create durable and eco-honouring flax fibre for use in every day making.
Together we envision a sustainable future and aim to benefit the qathet community and fibre arts sector through environmental awareness of full circle flax to linen production cycles
